Café Neptune – One of Joo Chiat’s Most Popular Cafes

Café Neptune Singapore Joo Chiat

From TikTok to Instagram, Café Neptune Singapore has become one of the most commonly spotted hotspots in the Joo Chiat and East Coast area. With all the hype surrounding it, we definitely had to head down and do a proper Neptune café review to see what the buzz was all about.

A new favourite among Joo Chiat cafes

Nestled along East Coast Road, Cafe Neptune Joo Chiat is a newer addition helmed by the founders behind Columbus Coffee Co., Atlas Coffeehouse, Apollo Coffee Bar and Lunar Coffee Brewers — all well-loved names in the specialty coffee Singapore scene. Having tried their other cafés, we naturally had high expectations for Neptune.

Menu highlights at Café Neptune

We visited at around 5pm, which meant we had first dibs on their dinner menu. While they still featured their classic pasta menu seen across their café group, Neptune stands out for their choice of pasta — Tagliatelle, a thicker version of Linguine. The thicker strands allow each bite to hold more sauce, making their pastas richer and more satisfying.

What we ordered

We ordered two mains and one side:

  • Shrimp Scampi ($22.50)

  • Seafood Somen ($23.50)

  • Burnt Brussels Sprouts ($14.50)

Seafood Somen ($23.50)

We were excited to try the Seafood Somen, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The noodles tasted oddly similar to Indomie and didn’t fully complement the well-seared seafood on top.

The bright side? The salmon was delicious — thick, perfectly seared, and not jelak (cloying), allowing us to enjoy every bite.

Shrimp Scampi ($22.50) – Our favourite

The Shrimp Scampi absolutely stole the show! The combination of lemon zest and lemon juice cut through the creaminess beautifully, making this dish easy to enjoy even when we were full.

The shrimps were plump with a slight crunch, adding a delightful texture to the al dente pasta. If you’re visiting Café Neptune Singapore, this is the dish we highly recommend.

Burnt Brussels Sprouts ($14.50)

Honest Review of Joo Chiat’s Popular East Coast Café

The popular Burnt Brussels Sprouts, however, didn’t impress us as much as expected. While not terrible, the dish tasted exactly as advertised — burnt brussels sprouts. There wasn’t enough parmesan to balance the bitterness, and the flavour got monotonous towards the end.

Final thoughts

There were hits and misses during our visit, but we still found a gem in this café — especially the Shrimp Scampi. With its stylish interior, East Coast charm, and solid café staples, Cafe Neptune Joo Chiat remains a great spot among popular cafes in Joo Chiat for brunch, dinner, or a casual date.
