Hawker breakfasts, Thai food queues, sunset walks by the Botanic Gardens and live music till late. Holland Village has more than enough for a full weekend date. Here’s where to eat, see and do – and also, stay, in case you want to make a getaway out of it.
Looking for an easy paktor spot that isn’t just another standard heartland mall?
Many of you might be familiar with Holland Village already, especially if you’re a pet owner (One Holland Village is exceptionally pet-friendly after all). But for the few who have only heard stories about the good food there and have yet to visit, Holland V is a low-rise, shophouse-lined neighbourhood near Botanic Gardens. It’s very walkable, kinda eclectic and very ‘expat-meets-local village’.
Today, Holland V sits between old and new. Shophouses with tarot card readers sit next door to a sleek mixed-use mall. Hawker stalls are five minutes from specialty coffee roasters. Bars that have been pouring drinks since before most of us were born share the street with cocktail spots that opened last year.

Where to makan
Holland Village Market & Food Centre

Our recommendation? Start here. The food centre here has some proper local grub and enough variety to keep both of you happy.
363 Katong Laksa Holland Village Nasi Lemak (whew, that’s a mouthful) does a rich, lemak-heavy laksa, with sets from $5.20, that’s worth the trip on its own. If your date’s more of a noodle person, Ming Fa Fishball Noodles has been going since 1946, with bowls from $4. There are also other favourites like Xiang Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice (from $4.50) and Twirl Pasta, which does restaurant-quality handmade pasta for $8+.
Between the two of you, plan to spend around $20. But don’t let us stop you – there’s plenty more to eat if your budget stretches a little further.

Nakhon Kitchen

This Thai restaurant has earned somewhat of a ‘perpetual queue’ reputation (with good reason) with aggressively authentic, aggressively affordable food: pad thai for $6, green curry chicken for $8, olive fried rice for $6, and mango sticky rice to finish. There is no GST or service charge, so a feast for two rarely hits the $40 mark. The atmosphere is loud, buzzy, and not candlelit affair territory, but the food is oh so worth it.

La Nonna

Skip Pastamania – this is a proper Italian place on Lorong Mambong that feels warm and lively, and it’s great for a date night.
Their signature La Nonna pizza ($26) with truffle paste, egg and asparagus is a proper treat. Portions are generous and the wine list is not half bad. Chef’s kiss.

Yuzu Japanese Restaurant

For a splurge-y (but worth) date night, climb the stairs to Yuzu on the second floor of a shophouse on Lorong Mambong (with a reservation in hand). It’s out of the way and quite an intimate spot (only 30 seats here).
Run by Chef Takahashi Tadashi, the omakase here is seriously good. Dinner sets range from $120 to $320, but the lunch sets start at $35 and are well worth it if you want to try the place without committing to a big spend.
The pace is slow and the fish is some of the best you’ll get in Singapore. Defo book ahead.

Chip Bee Bistro

Opened in July 2025 by the co-founders of PS.Cafe, The Bistro is quickly becoming one of the most coveted brunch reservations in the neighbourhood. The pastas are excellent, the grilled mains are a hit, and if you can snag a table for weekend brunch (usually 45 days in advance!), your date is guaranteed to be impressed. Eh, probably. At the very least, they’ll be impressed you actually got in.
The space is warm and almost candle-lit, and it feels like a proper date night even at lunch. Mains go for anywhere between $21 to $55.

Things to do together
Take a nice stroll around town

The best date activity in Holland Village is … free! Er, walking, that is.
Start at Chip Bee Gardens, an old British military housing estate that’s now a quiet row of cafes, small galleries and artisan shops. Consider grabbing some pastries from Tiong Bahru Bakery, browsing shops at the Holland Road Shopping Centre, and just wander.
If you want to end the night on a sweet note, 2am:dessertbar does a 6-course tasting menu ($65++) that we think is worth the splurge.
The whole stretch takes about an hour to walk, but you’ll probably end up staying for a little bit longer.
Visit the Botanic Gardens at sunrise or sunset

Aye, the ol’ tried-and-true, and it’s about a 10-minute drive from Holland Village. At sunrise or sunset, the ambience here is simply unbeatable.
For couples, the route we’d recommend goes through Swan Lake, into the Ginger Garden (there’s a path behind a waterfall, and the evening lighting is lovely), then up to the National Orchid Garden.
It’s also peak blooming season as of the time that this article is published (March), so if you’re a fan of nature, there’s no better time to go.

Explore Dempsey Hill

Holland Village doesn’t sleep early, and neither does Dempsey Hill. A short walk or Grab ride from Holland V, Dempsey Hill has some of Singapore’s best restaurants. Claudine, the Michelin-starred Burnt Ends, the classic PS.Cafe and Violet Oon (for Peranakan food) are all within the area. Food-lovers, this spot should already be on your radar.
For something more unconventional, there’s a Mr Bucket Chocolaterie that lets you build a custom chocolate slab for ~$25. The Museum of Ice Cream is nearby too (tickets from ~$40).

Enjoy live music and drinks at Wala Wala and Lucky Bar

Wala Wala nearly shut for good in 2025, but it survived, and it’s still absolutely the go-to for live music in Holland V. Bands play from 7pm, the draft beers are cold, and the ‘Walapenos’ are as good as ever. If there’s ever a spot in the neighbourhood that’s happening, this is the one.
Eh, what in the world is a Walapeno? There’s one way to find out!
For a quieter vibe (for us introverts out there), Lucky Bar serves up lovely Asian-inspired cocktails in the $20 range.

Have a couple’s massage at Natureland

After a day of eating and walking, Natureland on Lorong Liput is a nice (and well-deserved) wind-down for the day.
Yes, we know it’s not a super fancy “spa,” but a $62 full-body massage might be exactly what you need to end the date on a high note after a whole day of wandering and snacking.

Where to stay
Quincy House Singapore

If you want to turn the date into a week-long staycay, Quincy House is right inside One Holland Village. For couples, the Deluxe Room starts from around $249 per night, though there is a minimum stay of six nights (as it’s a serviced residence). If you’re a pet owner, there are also pet-friendly rooms here at an extra $30/day.
The whole place is connected to the mall and Holland Village MRT, so you can roll out of bed and into brunch without breaking a sweat. It’s walkable to everything in this guide as well.

Park Avenue Rochester

A more budget-friendly option just down the road. Rooms start from ~$120 a night, and there’s a pool, a gym and a restaurant on-site. The setting among colonial black-and-white bungalows and trees gives it a nice resort-like vibe that’s, okay, not quite Sentosa, but it still feels like you’re here on a nice holiday.

Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay

The furthest from Holland Village (~15 minutes by taxi), but this Holiday Inn has a 40-metre rooftop infinity pool with two whirlpools (!) overlooking Singapore’s skyline and river. And the Clarke Quay nightlife district is at your doorstep.

If there’s nothing on, go already
Holland V doesn’t try to impress you. It’s just a neighbourhood with great food and a few good bars. But there’s more than enough going on that you can spend an entire weekend here (or longer) on a nice staycay.

Are there outdoor spots near Holland Village for a date walk?
The Botanic Gardens are just two MRT stops away. There are walking paths, gardens and quiet spots to sit. If you want something closer and smaller, Chip Bee Gardens is a short walk from the main strip, with cafes and small shops along the way.
What makes Holland Village different from other date spots in Singapore?
It’s small enough that you can do everything on foot and varied enough that you won’t run out of things to do. Hawker food, specialty coffee, live music and cocktail bars are all on the same few streets. Most mall-based date spots can’t say the same.
Is Holland Village better for daytime dates or evening date nights?
Both work well. During the day you’ve got cafe-hopping, the Botanic Gardens and the hawker centre. In the evening there’s live music at Wala Wala, dinner along Lorong Mambong and the bar scene on the main strip. A full weekend covers both without feeling rushed.
