Thinking of ringing in 2027 at the Sentosa Countdown with your partner? Here’s how to plan New Year’s Eve on Sentosa from the afternoon to after midnight, with the best fireworks spots, where to eat, where to stay and how to get home.
The Sentosa Countdown is Singapore’s biggest beach party on New Year’s Eve, with live music on Siloso Beach and fireworks over the sea at midnight. It’s also a long day with big crowds, so a little planning goes a long way. New Year’s Eve falls on a Thursday this year and 1 January is a Friday, which means you can stay out late and sleep in.
We’ve laid this guide out as a timeline you can follow from 2pm to past midnight. The official programme for the 2027 countdown had not been announced when we wrote this, so the countdown details below are based on last year’s event. We’ll update them once Sentosa confirms the line-up.

Dateideas’ top 3 picks
If you want to keep it simple, do these three. Ride the Singapore Cable Car in at sunset, have dinner with your feet near the sand at Coastes, then walk over to Palawan Beach for the fireworks.
Afternoon: arrive early and ease in (2pm to 5pm)
The secret to a stress-free countdown is getting to the island before everyone else does. Use the afternoon to slow down together.
Start with coffee at WEAVE

Begin at WEAVE, the lifestyle mall at Resorts World Sentosa. Standard Bread is our pick for a coffee and something freshly baked. It’s calm, it smells amazing and it’s a good place for a proper chat before the night gets loud.
You’re also right next to the Sentosa Express and a short walk from the Oceanarium, so it’s an easy base for the afternoon. See our WEAVE weekend guide for more places to eat and shop there.
- Where: 26 Sentosa Gateway, #01-229/230 WEAVE, Singapore 098138
- Price: About $10 to $30 per person
Cool off at the Singapore Oceanarium

The Singapore Oceanarium at Resorts World Sentosa has 22 zones to wander through, from prehistoric sea creatures to the huge Open Ocean viewing panel. It’s dark, cool and unhurried, which is exactly what you want before a long night outdoors.
Give yourselves two hours. Sit in front of the big tank for a while and watch the manta rays glide past.
- Where: 24 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore 098137
- Price: From about $49 per person
Make a perfume together at Scentopia

For something more hands-on, book a perfume workshop at Scentopia on Siloso Beach. You each take a personality quiz, find your scent profile and mix a bottle to take home.
It’s a sweet way to mark the end of the year, and you’ll have a scent that reminds you of this night. Book ahead, because New Year’s Eve slots are limited.
- Where: 36 Siloso Beach Walk, #01-04, Singapore 099007
- Price: From about $95 per person
Golden hour: views and a little adventure (5pm to 7.30pm)
From 5pm the light turns soft and the island starts to buzz. This is the time for photos and a bit of fun.
Ride the Singapore Cable Car at sunset

The Singapore Cable Car is the most romantic way to get onto the island. You’ll float about 100m above the harbour, with the city on one side and Sentosa on the other.
Time your ride for about 6.45pm and you’ll catch the sunset from your cabin. It also lets you skip the queue for the Sentosa Express at VivoCity.
- Where: Board at Mount Faber Station or HarbourFront Station
- Price: About $35 per person for a round trip
Race each other down the Skyline Luge

Nothing wakes you up like a little competition. At the Skyline Luge, you race down the hillside tracks in gravity-powered carts, then take the chairlift back up for another go.
After dark the tracks are lit in neon for the Night Luge, which feels a bit like being inside a video game. Loser buys the first round at dinner.
- Where: 45 Siloso Beach Walk, Singapore 099003
- Price: From about $38 per person
Walk the Fort Siloso Skywalk

The Fort Siloso Skywalk is an open-air walkway 11 storeys above the treetops, at the western tip of the island. It’s free, and most people walk right past the lift without noticing it.
Go up at about 6pm for a wide view of the harbour and the beaches below as they fill up for the night. It’s one of the best photo spots on Sentosa.
- Where: Siloso Road, near Siloso Point
- Price: Free
Dinner: where to eat on New Year’s Eve (7.30pm to 10pm)
Dinner is the second highlight of the night, and tables on the beach go fast. Reserve as early as you can, and check whether the restaurant has a special New Year’s Eve menu or minimum spend. For options on the mainland, see our NYE dining promos.
Coastes

Coastes sits right on Siloso Beach, with wooden tables on the sand and the sea in front of you. The menu is easy to share, with wood-fired pizzas, truffle fries and seafood.
It’s the pick if you want to stay close to the countdown party. You can finish dinner, kick off your shoes and walk straight to the stage.
- Where: 50 Siloso Beach Walk, #01-06, Singapore 099000
- Price: About $30 to $60 per person
Trapizza

Trapizza is the Italian restaurant by Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, at the quieter end of Siloso Beach. Come for wood-fired pizzas and pasta in an open-air setting.
It’s a little calmer than the beach clubs, so you can actually hear each other, and the main party is a short walk away once you’re done.
- Where: 10 Siloso Beach Walk, Singapore 098995
- Price: About $35 to $70 per person
Mykonos on the Bay

For a dinner away from the crowds, head to Mykonos on the Bay at Quayside Isle in Sentosa Cove. The blue-and-white taverna looks out over the marina, and the moussaka and seafood platter for two are made for sharing.
Sentosa Cove is at the far eastern end of the island, so allow about 20 minutes to get back to the beaches for the countdown.
- Where: 31 Ocean Way, #01-10 Quayside Isle, Singapore 098375
- Price: About $50 to $90 per person
Countdown: the beach party and fireworks (10pm to midnight)
This is what everyone comes for. Decide which kind of midnight you want, loud or quiet, and get to your spot by 10.30pm.
Dance at the Siloso Beach countdown party
The official countdown party takes over Siloso Beach with a concert stage on the sand. Last year it was Mediacorp’s Let’s Celebrate show, with live acts from 7pm, free admission and fireworks at midnight.
If you love live music and a big crowd counting down together, this is your spot. It gets packed, so travel light, wear shoes you don’t mind getting sandy and agree on a meeting point in case you get separated.
- Where: Siloso Beach
- Price: Free in past years. 2027 details to be announced
Watch the fireworks from Palawan Beach

Want room to breathe? Go to Palawan Beach. Last year there was a carnival and free outdoor movie screenings on Palawan Green from 5.30pm, and the island had two fireworks shows at midnight, so you could watch from here without squeezing into Siloso.
Bring a mat, grab drinks from a nearby kiosk and settle in. You’ll get your midnight kiss without being bumped by a stranger. For more ways to ring in the year, see our New Year’s Eve date ideas.
- Where: Palawan Beach and Palawan Green
- Price: Free
After midnight: stay the night
Getting off the island at 12.30am is the least romantic part of the night. If you can stretch the budget, book a room and wake up on Sentosa on New Year’s Day. Rooms for 31 December sell out early.
Capella Singapore

If you’re celebrating something big, Capella Singapore is the one. It’s set in 30 acres of greenery, with colonial buildings, cascading pools and villas that come with their own plunge pool.
It’s far enough from the beaches to be peaceful, and close enough that you can walk back after the fireworks.
- Where: 1 The Knolls, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098297
- Price: From about $900 per night
W Singapore – Sentosa Cove

W Singapore – Sentosa Cove is bold, colourful and fun, with a big pool and marina views. It suits couples who’d rather keep the night going than wind down.
Book a late check-out if you can, and spend New Year’s Day by the pool.
- Where: 21 Ocean Way, Singapore 098374
- Price: From about $500 per night
Getting to Sentosa on New Year’s Eve
Going in: Take the MRT to HarbourFront and go up to Level 3 of VivoCity for the Sentosa Express. Queues build quickly from about 6pm, which is another reason to arrive in the afternoon. You can also walk in along the Sentosa Boardwalk from VivoCity. It’s sheltered, takes about 15 minutes and there’s no waiting.
Going home: This is where most couples get stuck. Right after midnight, the Sentosa Express queue is long and ride-hailing prices jump. Either walk out along the Boardwalk to HarbourFront, or stay put, have one more drink and leave after 1.30am when the crowd has thinned. Check the Sentosa website nearer the date for extended train hours and road closures.
Final thoughts
A good New Year’s Eve on Sentosa comes down to three things: arrive early, book dinner ahead and know how you’re getting home. Sort those out and the rest of the night takes care of itself.
Happy New Year, and here’s to your best countdown yet!
