Date Events for Couples in November

Here’s our pick of November’s best date activities and couple-friendly events. A weekend German film fest; a peek behind Singapore’s triad past; cocktails served with a dash of close-up magic; paper-making and more!

28th German Film Festival: Binge on a weekend of German contemporary films

Now in its 28th year, the German Film Festival holds the distinction of being Singapore’s longest-running film festival. Who knew there’s such passion for Deutsch filmmaking on our tiny island! Whether you’re a long-time convert, or simply curious about expanding your movie-watching horizons with your partner, block off your calendar for a weekend of German contemporary films.

Start off your movie binge on Friday evening with your pick of drama-thrillers. In Hysteria, a film shoot takes a dark turn sparked off by the burning of a Quran. Meanwhile, In The Fade stars Diane Kruger in a neo-noir thriller centered on the aftermath of a terrorist attack.

Come Saturday, cheer on young reindeer Niko as he dreams of joining Santa’s sleigh crew in the uplifting Niko: Beyond the Northern Lights. On Sunday afternoon Lessons of a Dream, a period drama based loosely on the life of late-19th-century football pioneer Konrad Koch, brings the Festival to a close.

LEARN IMPROV TODAY!: Communicate through the language of humour

Dating is going great, but they just don’t get your sense of humour! Instead of ruminating over how to get your partner to see how brilliantly funny you really are, why not take an improv class together?

Improv (or improvisational comedy) is a fun collaborative performance where participants create scenes, dialogue and characters spontaneously. However, all participants must abide by “Yes. And…” which means accepting whatever premise your partner throws at you, and playing along in kind.

This 2-hour class is a creative – and hilarious – way to learn more about the communication style of your date. It’s also a great opportunity to bond over shared laughs, spawn your own inside jokes, or just have a new funny story to tell your friends.

Date & time:

  • 09 Nov 2025: 1.30pm to 3.30pm
  • 27 Nov 2025: 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Arty Afternoon | Weaving Colours: A Stencilling Encounter: Create one-of-a-kind keepsakes

Did you know that across cultures and eras, the humble handkerchief was exchanged and worn as a symbol of love and romance? In ancient China, embroidered handkerchiefs were used as discreet tokens of commitment; medieval knights proudly rode off to war with handkerchiefs gifted by ladies who favored them; and young Portuguese couples declared their intentions with matching handkerchiefs.

Well you certainly don’t need to be ready to declare your undying love to invite your date to this handkerchief printmaking workshop.

Inspired by the vibrant palettes and eye-catching patterns of mixed-media artist Pacita Abad, learn how to layer stencils and colours on fabric to create one-of-a-kind handkerchieves that’ll make for bespoke keepsakes, unique only to you.

This event is free, and no registration is required.
